Project Overview

Aurora Dental & Implant Clinic is a private dental clinic in Wiltshire, specialising in dental implants, cosmetic treatments, and general dental care. They contracted Hague to assist with the refurbishment of their reception and waiting areas.

Hague provided the following services:

We posed the following questions to Kate Reeves, Business Development Manager at Aurora Dental & Implant Clinic:

When was your first introduction to Hague?

My first introduction to Kirsty came through industry connections, as I was already familiar with both Kirsty and the Hague team.

What was the original brief or challenge?

The original brief was to transform a small, older building in a way that maximised the available space while still achieving a modern, functional design. At the same time, it was important to respect and retain the character of the property’s period features, ensuring the final outcome balanced contemporary requirements with the building’s original architectural integrity.

What inspired the interior design – what were your objectives with this design?

The interior design was inspired by the original clinic concept, which was based on a peacock colour palette. This reference was drawn from the presence of wild peacocks in the town where the original clinic is located, giving the design a unique and meaningful connection to its surroundings. The brief was to carry this identity forward in the design while refining it into a cohesive, modern scheme.

Why did you choose Hague for your project?

We chose Kirsty for her strong reputation within the dental industry and her proven ability to deliver high-quality, design-led clinical environments.

How has Hague helped you from design inspiration to execution (including procurement of furniture)?

Kirsty supported the project throughout the entire process, from initial design inspiration through to final execution. She helped translate the original concept into a cohesive and practical design, ensuring that the aesthetic vision aligned with the functional requirements of the clinic.

Kirsty’s expertise was particularly valuable during the procurement stage, where she sourced and specified furniture and finishes that not only complemented the overall scheme but met durability and maximised seating space.

How has space changed the way people use or feel about it? Have you noticed measurable improvements (engagement, dwell time, productivity, sales, patient comfort, footfall)

The redesigned space has had a noticeably positive impact on how people both use and feel about the clinic. Patients appear more at ease from the moment they enter, with the softer textures, colour palette, and open layout helping to reduce the anxiety often associated with dental visits. The environment feels calmer and more welcoming, which has contributed to an overall improvement in patient comfort.

From a functional perspective, the improved layout and increased sense of space have made the clinic easier to navigate for both patients and staff. This has supported smoother day-to-day operations and a more efficient workflow.

There has been a clear uplift in patient feedback and overall experience. Patients tend to feel more relaxed and are more willing to spend time in the space, which reflects positively on the clinic’s atmosphere and reinforces trust in the brand.

What did Hague do well? What can we improve on?

Kirsty delivered the project to a high standard, particularly in how she translated the initial concept into a cohesive and well-planned design. She had a strong understanding of both the aesthetic vision and the practical requirements of a dental clinic, ensuring the space was not only visually engaging but also functional. Her support throughout the process, from design development to procurement, helped maintain consistency across all elements of the project, and her attention to detail was evident in the final outcome.

How would you describe the collaboration and communication process?

The collaboration process was overall very positive, with Kirsty working closely alongside us to understand both the vision and the practical requirements of the project. There was a strong sense of partnership throughout, and she was responsive and open to feedback and last-minute changes!

Her communication was clear and constructive, particularly during the design stages, where ideas were well-presented. This made it easier to visually see the plans and make decisions in the direction of the project.

What have you learned on this journey that you could share to help others e.g. your top 5 tips for other practitioners considering a refurbishment. Anything you would have done differently?

What are your favourite elements of the design?

The use of varied textures, which helps to soften the typically clinical atmosphere associated with a dental clinic. The layering of materials introduces warmth and tactility, making the environment feel more welcoming and reassuring for patients. This approach supports our idea of a more patient-centred experience.

In addition, the design successfully creates an increased perception of space. Through careful spatial planning and layout, the clinic feels open and uncluttered, which helps patients to feel at ease. This sense of openness not only improves the overall functionality of the space but also contributes to a calmer, more comfortable environment that enhances the patient experience.

”Working with Kirsty provided a seamless, end-to-end service that combined creative design expertise with practical execution, resulting in a well-considered, high-quality clinical environment. Thank you Kirsty!”
