Dental Stools - How to Choose - Equipment Solutions

Seating for the Whole Practice Team

Are you working in pain? Is it time to change your seat?

Ergonomics is key in any practice and an important part of that is working to eliminate physical stresses on the body that can be caused by hours of providing clinical treatments in an unnatural position.

Importance of Posture

Maintaining a strong posture is of paramount importance in any occupation in order to lead a healthy lifestyle and promote good musculoskeletal health, in particularly dentistry as this is often more straining on the body, more specifically the spine, than most industries.

Good posture can benefits your general well-being both inside and outside of the workplace. For example, it improves blood circulation and digestion, helps muscles and joints with proper alignment, eliminates back and neck pain which as a dentist can prevent you from working, as well as helping promote a healthy respiratory system.

Working with poor posture and consistent strains and stresses is common with dentists, and can often lead to more serious problems which may limit movement or lead to change of occupation, so it is in your best interest to find the perfect dental stool for you, to ensure you maximise productivity and promote a healthy posture when operating on your clients.

The average dentist changes their dental stools maybe once in 12 years; if you extrapolate the figures for a 40-hour working week, over a period of 12 years, it adds up to a staggering 23,040 hours!  So, it's vital taking the time to make sure it's the right stool for you.

The three key factors that contribute to back problems in dental professionals are:

 - Stools that don't perform as you require;

 - Stools that are poorly designed;

 - Compromising your working position to accommodate the patient's needs.

Seating for the Whole Team

The health and well-being of all practice staff is of utmost importance. At Hague Dental Supplies we have a wide range of dental stools available for each different role in the team. We know the varying work styles means we have to adapt in order to provide each and every member of your team with both optimum comfort and maximum productivity to keep your practice running smoothly and efficiently on a day to day basis. We supply a diverse collection including dentist stools, dental nurse stools and receptionist stools, models of which you will find in the sections below.

Saddle Stools

Saddle stools are becoming increasingly popular among dentists due to the ergonomic benefits. The shape of the seat places the pelvis in a neutral position, which aligns the spine, and the recessed edges allow greater blood circulation. Saddle stools are often better suited to smaller surgeries because of their smaller stature, this also allows a closer proximity to the dental chair, meaning operators can get close to the patient, reducing the need for them to bend down or curve the spine to get closer. Added to this, if the dental chair has a thick backrest, the shape of the saddle stool allows the user to open up the hip angle and get closer to the patient regardless.

Backrest

Backrests are also growing in popularity due to the increased level of lumbar support.

The team at Hague Dental Supplies are specialists in surgery design and ergonomics, and understanding the requirements of the surgery. Working alongside specialist manufacturers in both the dental and the seating industry, we have developed an extensive range of seating and knowledge, as we understand that what's right for one person may not be right for another.

So, if you are a practice team member including a Receptionist, Practice Manager, Principal Dentist, Nurse or Specialist Associate, we hope this page will be helpful for you in making an informed decision.
